Volunteering
Looking for a way to get involved and meet new people? Volunteer opportunities are as diverse as the people who attend! You may choose to work behind the concession stand or sell raffle tickets. How about helping with one of our many fundraisers like the Band Show? Perhaps you’d like to handle the sale of Spirit Wear or help with uniforms; be a Beekeeper for a game or competition. All are great ways to get involved and experience this journey first hand with your kids. Your support as a volunteer in the Medina Band Parents Association (MBPA) is essential for the Band’s continued success. It’s an experience that really requires every parent to be actively involved in some way. You will find volunteering to be rewarding as we all take pride in our students’ performances and form new friendships along the way. In past years, we have had strong parent involvement and we hope that continues this coming year. You are invited to attend our monthly MBPA Board meetings (see our meeting schedule under Documents) to see what’s going on. These meetings are open to all parents. In addition, watch your email and our website for volunteer opportunities throughout the year!
If you want to learn more, please contact the chairperson of the event you’d like to help with. Descriptions of each committee can be found under the MBPA menu.
Be a Chaperone; Keep the wheels on the bus turning!
Chaperones are vital to our Band and are an essential element to a successful trip!! Chaperones attend all “away” events, ride the school busses and help supervise students. Because student safety is of the utmost importance, it takes approximately 12-14 chaperones for each event (football game/competition) when we travel with our 200+ member marching band. We are in need of Band Parent Chaperones to make this season successful. Participate by becoming a chaperone – It’s a great way to meet all of the kids and catch a few away football games! Click on the Volunteer Form for more details.
- Chaperones ride the buses and are required to help load and unload instruments underneath the buses
- They also check that no items are left on the bus at the end of the trip
- Chaperones are there to ensure that our students are respectful and representing Medina well
- They are also there to help students if they need some assistance
